We, at PARD, have been supporting farmers in villages near Parnadawar dam by distributing seeds of vegetables and grains like peas, potatoes, maize, wheat, mustard, and yellow lentils. These are important food crops that can provide a source of income and nutrition for farmers and their communities.
In addition to distributing seeds, we have also been working towards improving soil health and revitalizing barren lands. By using sustainable agricultural practices such as organic fertilizers, crop rotation, and cover crops, PARD has been helping farmers improve the quality of their soil, that has led to better crop yields and long-term sustainability.
Furthermore, we have been promoting collective and community farming by aggregating huge parcels of land. This has helped farmers pool their resources nd work together to improve their yields and incomes. By organizing farmers' training through expert agri scientists of KVK (Krishi Vigyan Kendra) of Gram Nirman Mandal Sheikhodaura, we have helped farmers adopt best practices and earn about new technologies to improve heir farming methods.
We are also supporting the establishment of a vegetable nursery in Rumraichak, India. The nursery is aimed at producing seedlings of tomato, brinjal, cauliflower, cabbage, and other vegetables that can be transplanted to the farmers' fields.
Establishing a vegetable nursery can have several benefits, such as providing farmers with high-quality seedlings that are disease-resistant and have better chances of survival, ensuring a steady supply of seedlings, and promoting crop diversity. By supporting the establishment of the nursery, PARD is helping farmers to improve their yields, increase their incomes, and become more self-sufficient.
In addition to supporting the establishment of the nursery, PARD is also providing farmers with training on best practices for vegetable production. This includes guidance on soil reparation, fertilization, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling. By providing farmers with access to knowledge and resources, PARD is empowering them to improve their farming practices and become more sustainable.
